LIFE IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR
Words and Music by: Max Hsu
Got the call at 5pm
Your roommate said you'd left a note
Saying you could use a friend
So I went to the hospital
With my heart all choked up tight
And I prayed while I drove
Praying you would be alright
That morning you called to talk
You talked about
How life was a merry-go-round
And you wanted to get off
But I never thought I'd see you here
I never thought I'd hold your hand
In your hour of need
I always thought you'd cry for help
I always thought you'd understand
That life is worth fighting for
Yes, life is worth fighting for
So you thought no one understood
You thought tomorrow would be easier
If it went on without you
But my friend
It's a lie
Please hold on
Call for help
And oh, my friend
It's your life
You're not by yourself
So you're living on the razor's edge
Well I've been there myself
Holding a gun to my head
But I never thought I'd see you here
I never thought I'd hold your hand
In your hour of need
I always thought you'd cry for help
I always thought you'd understand
That life is worth fighting for
Your life is worth fighting for
If you hold my hand,
can you hold on for a moment longer?
If you know I love you,
does it make it better?
(Don't give in --- Don't give up)
If you hold my hand,
we can hold on for a moment longer
If you know I love you,
we can make it together ... (repeat and fade)
What can I say? Had I been in a more melancholic mood, I think I would have dissolved into tears whilst listening to this song. But instead I must have skipped a few breaths at least throughout its duration. How many of you can identify with either of the 2 parties in the song? I could. Check out
http://www.soulcleansed.com/info/life_is_worth_fighting.html for the story behind this song. In my honest opinion, I think the version by Church Of Rhythm does this poignant piece better justice with its simple acoustic feel, as opposed to the use of electric/synth instrumentation by Soul Cleansed...
God be with us all.
