Squee was beginning to smell real bad, so I gave him his first bath yesterday. Poor squirt. He was trembling like crazy after all the shampooing and rinsing. Guess it was more from shock than cold, cos I made sure I used tepid water, AND blasted him with the hairdryer thereafter. Hehe. Funny thing is that I've a hunch the bath did him more good than just ridding him of his stink... You know like how instances of shock can 'wake' one up? Well in this case I found that he's become noticeably (but thankfully not uncontrollably) active after the bath. Less sluggish.

I feel so utterly guilty for leaving him alone in the toilet for hours on end, yet there's Richie to be wary of... Hrm. Yea well, have done the obvious lately, i.e. Grab Squee in one hand, grab Richie in the other, throw Richie into the master bedroom and lock the door, and let Squee have a free, unadulterated run of the flat for a while. Slightly disgruntled with his progress though... Not as playful nor adept at cleaning himself as I would have guessed kittens his age would be. Plus he's definitely a runt by kitten standards. But a friend brought up a point that young animals who didn't have a good start during their early days would usually find their development a little retarded. Patience, I need patience. He's still pawing into his canned food during feeding time, eurgh. Messy barbarian. But he can lap up water from his tealight holder, so dehydration shouldn't be a concern. Ooh, and his weepy right eye mysteriously cleared. No more tears! Haha... Now both his eyes are of equal size. Pleased about that bit.

Richie. Richie, Richie, Richie. You evil green-eyed monster. Let Squee out in his presence this morning, and what did he do? Locked his gaze onto the little one and nearly pounced on him, but fled when I raised my fist. He tried going for him again and I gave him a good smack on his rump. *growl* And that silly little thing seemed oblivious to the imminent danger, just continued exploring the bottom of a cabinet. Can't wait for him to grow bigger. Grow, Squee, grow!!! Then I won't have to feed you eeky, yucky canned food anymore. You can snuffle in your dried food as much as you like and I won't have to wash your face for you. And you'll be less bite-sized. Which would certainly be a good thing. Yup. Be less bite-sized, Squee.
