Superstar (Where You Are)
Lincoln Brewster
© 2000 Integrity’s Praise! Music/BMI
To serve You Lord is a delight
And I just won’t give up this fight
Lord I’ll finish the race
Pressing toward the things above
As I’m covered in Your love
‘Till I see You face to face
Chorus
You are my superstar
You are my superstar
I wanna be where You are
And I love You
To know You Lord is a delight
I worship You with all my might
You’re the one I wanna chase
Pressing on toward the prize
My reflection in Your eyes
When I see You face to face
Chorus (2x)
Bridge
Jesus nothing compares
To what You’ve done in my life
And You are my one and only
Solo
You’ll never leave me or forsake me
You’re my friend ‘til the end of time
You are my superstar
Chorus (2x)
This song so totally overflows with adoration. At least that was what struck me when I was listening to this on the bus. In a world where man idolizes man and other things (Think screaming, hysterical teens at boyband concerts, kooky old women lavishing silly luxuries on their lap dogs/cats)... Makes you stop in your tracks when the idea of God being your superstar is brought up. Like, waitaminute... God, a superstar?! You mean, chase Him in taxis at unearthly hours, booking a room at the same hotel He's staying in, cheer at dazzling, celebrity-filled concerts, hearts all aflutter at the mention of His Name... Well, you get the idea... Chase Him in taxis we don't, but really, isn't He even more than a superstar?
