Songs played on radio these days are... unpalatable. The mainstream stations are all churning out loads of hip hop, rap, R&B that scream *BLING BLING* (Candice, you'll know what I'm talking about, eh?) Even Class 95 can't make it anymore. Skipped over to Gold 90FM but the music didn't go down with me either. Heh. This could mean either one of two things: That the quality of music has dropped drastically with no creativity or style whatsoever, OR... Admit it. I (We, my generation, OUR generation) am an oldie. No, not the Oldie oldie, but in general a generation that's grown up with a certain style of music that has now passed on. I would like to think that music quality has degraded. Decayed. Rotted. Hrmph. I shall settle (very happily, in fact) with what I have on my hard disk.
Dad made the customary CNY calls to relatives living on distant shores. I note with bemusement and mirth how silly it all seems - can't even remember the last time I ever saw some of these blood relatives of mine, and here I am yelling brightly into the phone to my grand uncle (who's slightly
daft deaf) "Happy Chinese New Year, Uncle! Yes yes, I'm FINE! etc etc", followed by the usual silence for the lack of anything else to talk about, and ends with a "Ah... Pass the phone back to your Daddy eh?". Which I immediately comply with the utmost deadpan expression I can muster. And they call this keeping in touch eh? *grin* Ok. For the sake of basic ettiquette in a culture where showing respect to your relatives (notably doing so only at certain times throughout the year is already considered most satisfactory) is imperative, the show shall go on (and on and on and on....).
Richie threw an old grumpy cat tantrum when I tried moving him off my backpack. Sigh. I would have left him alone to sleep on it, but for the fact that he became very upset and showed it by clutching my bag with his CLAWS and began kicking it with his hind legs... Like Hey! No destruction of property here dude! Anyway, he calmed down and sensibly settled down for one (out of many in the course of a day) catnap on the bag.
And peace reigns.
