Went for the Bodyworlds exhibit at Expo with Polar Bear and Sheep yesterday. I think we got bored soon after we entered... perhaps it's because it all becomes educational at the end of the day, despite of the unusual poses the bodies are presented to the viewer. No, we weren't there to be entertained, but after looking at 2 or 3 of them, you realise that the anatomy illustrations available these days are actually very accurate (and thus you've kind of seen it all, leading to a ho-hum feeling as you continue down the various exhibits)
Got to visit the Night Safari, as part of the plan to bring Uncle Bryan sight-seeing. Interesting. Got to see quite a few animals up-close, both from the tram ride and along the trails. Leopards, various types of four-hooved mammals, giraffes, lions, hippos, rhinos, tapirs, elephants... And giant fruit bats. Those were kept in a walk-through enclosure, so there's actually nothing between you and them. They swoop past within an inch of your head or hang from branches all around. Funny creatures with huge wingspans. They scuttle along the branches (upside down, of course) in such a comical manner. Plus the otters were squalling for no apparent reason, the noisy things... =)
It seems that my parents have plans to sell the flat and move to a smaller one - after I graduate, that is. Just learnt about it from my mum yesterday.
NooooOOOOOooooOOOOOOOO!
They can't DO that! I've lived here ALL my life! (Well, nearly all - we moved in when I was one.) And.. and... it's a prime area... not near the city or even the mrt, mind you, but near enough so that I never had to wake up earlier than 6am, potter around for an hour, before leaving for school by 7am... (Nowadays, I even walk to school...)
And the view! How could they ever junk the view tt the flat offers?!?! 22 storeys up, we get a bird's eye view towards the eastern side of Singapore, with part of the sea on the west... and the BEST part of living high-rise here? Have you seen the sunrises and sunsets from my window on some days???
And that's not all. I get to see stars (well, just a few) on clear nights, watch fireworks from the window on National Day, and even survey the traffic situation along the AYE (ok, no biggie).
I'm going to stage a protest... They might just have to drag me kicking and screaming out of here in a year or two's time... Or I might just learn let go in time for a composed farewell...
