Yesterday:
Sat for my first LSM2202 lecture at 10am - I really hope they give me the SOLE lab slot on Thursday, if not... Well. There really isn't much of an option for an "if-not". Drat. IF i don't get the thursday slot through the graciousness of the lecturer, I won't be able to take the module. The only other time slot falls on a wed afternoon, and I have not one, but TWO lectures then. Sigh. When I went up to the lecturer to ask him what other options were available to me, he said worst come to worse, they'll be offering LSM2202 in semester 4, and I can just take it then instead of this sem. *THERE'S A SEMESTER FOUR?!?!* Yes. Apparently there's a sem 4. In JULY. BIG N-O. NO. WAY.
And once again who's to blame for this knuckle-whitening situation? You tell me. They opened up the online site for lab slot enrollment WITHOUT even sending out any email/posting a msg on IVLE to inform us. And it's one pathetic 80-place Thursday slot VS 3 Wed slots for the rest of the cohort. Needless to say, there are students who seemed logged into IVLE 24/7, who stumbled upon the open website, and filled up the Thursday slot before I could say "HEY!". *eyes narrow into slits* Honestly, is the administration supposed to work like this? This is extremely unfair. Whatever happened to transparency?! And the tutorial registration on CORS? I mean, if those ppl can be open and fair about that, giving everyone a fair start, why not for a LAB?! I. Am. Upset.
That aside, met Wei Ling and Sheep for (somewhat of a) lunch at arts. Bumped into Yu Bin there (one of the girls in my PRC orientation group), was quite stunned and didn't know what to say save for an overtly-bright "Ne hao", haha. =p
OOOOOHHHH.... *bounce bounce bounce* And after lunch, on our way to the library, Wei Ling and I discovered we're taking the same module this semester!!! HOW ->insert positive adjective here <- IS THAT?!?! It seems that LSM2101 falls under the core module category for both Life Science and Pharmacy majors. Yay! =)
My first CZ2206 lecture after that.. nearly got a heart attack when the lecturer said that we would be expected to write a program that executes a certain action (say, a toss of a coin) at random. Or generates a random integer. Could feel the blood draining away from my face. RANDOM?! All that I've been taught about programming and the like is that it's an extremely structured entity. Predictability. Throw in a value and it spits out another value that can be predicted. But randomness out of structure? On a programming level at that?! HOW?!
Ok... I guess that's the job of the lecturer to teach us how, and for me to learn how... let me get over the shock first - it DOES sound interesting...
Then a CZ1106 lecture to end the day. Not Prasad taking us this time, pity, he's a very patient guy when it comes to explaining concepts (albeit with a quirky, easily-flustered temperament that you've to get used to..). This China guy who, thankfully can speak English pretty well.
Had a meeting at church, was supposed to meet them for dinner at Tanglin halt first. Boarded 198, saw many students walking along the concrete pavement towards ACJC when the bus passed by. Realised that they were the new J1s and it would be their campfire night - heh, felt so excited then and wished I could afford to go down to watch. 17 year olds starting a new chapter in their life in Junior College. Hope they enjoy their time there! =) Kinda miss having service in ACJC, even tho the new building IS nice and all. We don't get to hang around anymore after service since there's another one that follows half an hour later. Hrm.
Was so tired that I wasn't paying much attention during the meeting... Got home at 10-ish, bathed, and stumbled into bed immediately. Oh, could see a few stars twinkling in the night sky - Orion's belt included.
And that was my day.
