Service today was good. For one, we had new blood in the worship band - a guitarist! Finally. It's high time that a fresh batch of youth began to serve in the worship ministry. =)
And
the message (titled The Supremacy of Christ) was one of the first few that I've heard that contained some "depth" since we've moved back to 400 Commonwealth. Fundamental in its content, yet something totally indispensible, especially so when dealing with the youth congregation. Certainly hope that in view of youth service spanning 1.5 hours instead of the hasty 1 hour when we were back in ACJC means that we're going to hear more substantial sermons as time goes by. Plus Pastor B. IS a good speaker on the whole.
Which also reminds me how much the responsiblity lies upon the Sunday class teachers to impart and for the youth to ground themselves firmly in the Word, aside from mere attendance of weekly services.
Have taken to listening to Chris Rice songs since.. urm.. yesterday. This one's a really really simple one. Similar to his other song, Untitled Hymn (Come to Jesus), in terms of 'feel'. Quiet and meditative. Apparently it's an adaption of the hymn "
Nothing but the blood". Though repetitive, you can't hide from the sheer truth in the lyrics:
Nothin'
by Chris Rice
Nothing can wash away my sin
Nothing can wash away my sin
Nothing can wash away my sin
Nothing... Nothing...
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Nothing can make the Devil run
Nothing can make the Devil run
Nothing can make the Devil run
Nothing... Nothing...
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Nothing can bring me peace with God
Nothing can bring me peace with God
Nothing can bring me peace with God
Nothing... Nothing...
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Nothing can lead me to Your throne
Nothing can lead me to Your throne
Nothing can lead me to Your throne
Nothing... Nothing...
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Nothing can make Your people one
Nothing can make Your people one
Nothing can make Your people one
Nothing... Nothing...
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Oooh...
Nothing... Nothing...
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Absolutely nothing... nothing...
Nothing but the blood of Jesus...

Ooh. And before I forget... Swiped a few pictures from
Joel, of his "surprise" farewell party on Saturday evening. Joel, you should have seen us lined up against that wall whilst waiting to "surprise" you. Renee figured we must have looked all ready for the firing squad.
And you're gonna fly off to Melbourne in a week's time. Boo. =(
