Today being Vesak Day and all (what with the release of animals like fish and
terrapins by Buddhists who see it as a good deed), my 'boss' dispatched various ppl to water bodies around S'pore to do observations of any releases and people counts. I got MacRitchie Reservoir. It felt like X-country all over again, having to wake up especially early (5.30am!), and taking 165 down to that familiar old place. For a better idea of what I was supposed to do, click
here.
And this was my equipment:
Cool, eh? I looked out of my window with the binocs yesterday evening and could see the corridors of the NUS Engine Faculty in startling clarity. Abstained from aiming them at the windows of the flats across mine to avoid any misunderstandings or poundings at my door. So anyway, back to today's events. I got bored sitting around just literally people watching after the first hour, but brought Gems From Tozer along with me so time was spent pondering his writings in between glancing up and scanning my surroundings with the binocs, trying to make it as unobstrusive as possible. Many morning joggers, with parents and toddlers making use of the public holiday to enjoy the nature reserve and fresh air.
Only managed to catch sight of one release by a family around noon, and I think I did a bad job of sneaking up behind them to get a closer look cos they soon walked off to another location. Had company for a few hours when Shaun popped by - he did his BB admin stuff and I did my spying before we had lunch and he had to go off for a meeting. So it was just me, the binocs, and the reservoir again. It's not as boring as it sounds though, and the quietness and solitude makes for excellent reflection. Thank God for pleasant weather too. And that was my day. =)
Gonna follow Richie's example now. Bedtime on what Joel calls my "Fun-KEH" bedsheet, hehe.
