Well I'm back. Been gone over the weekend for a retreat in JB, organised by
Eagles Communications. Came back on Monday afternoon and went straight for class but was so tired (and late) that I decided to just stay outside and watch the going-ons within. Will be missing yet another class come next Monday. 2 in a row. Baaaah. =(
The messages at the retreat were good. Well-structured and clearly given by the speaker, but felt more ministered to by the worship overall. Retreat came at a time when a break from my routine (however lax and mentally-untaxing it was) was welcomed, and away from people whom I've to constantly rub shoulders with. Just to go somewhere with no terrapins, internet, sms, or responsibilities in terms of church commitments to fulfill. My room mate was this 50 plus year old lawyer who seemed to have brought with her a myriad of creams and lotions, who snored loudly in her sleep, and who seemed agonised by my constant running in and out of the room - meaning she had to keep getting up from the couch to open the door for me, whoops.
Anyway, had this song running through my head:
Lay It Down
by Among Thorns
Lay it down, I've come to lay it down
Lay it down, I've come to lay it down
Lay it down, I've got to lay it down
My convictions, my emotions,
My pursuit of lustfulness,
My depression, my addictions,
I cast them down
Lay it down, I've come to lay it down
Lay it down, I've got to lay it down
For God so loved the world, that He
Gave us His only Son,
And if we believe in Him
we will be saved
Saved from the trappings of
sin and all its seductive power
He alone is the strength in which we stand
My convictions, my emotions
My pursuit of lustfulness,
My depression, my addictions,
I cast them down
Lay it down, I've come to lay it down
Lay it down, I've got to lay it down
(repeat and fade)
Where has all that youthful exuberance gone to?
