Part Of Your World

Listening to that (almost) theme song from Disney's 1997 cartoon production of The Little Mermaid almost always sends a tingle of delight down my spine, bringing back fond memories of the characters and songs and an age of relative innocence, free from burdens. That was probably my favourite Disney cartoon ever from their princess series, with Beauty And The Beast coming in a close second. And the rest all somehow gained a place on my list of faves respective to their year of release, and I wonder why. Guess Disney never gained more inspiration than they did with The Little Mermaid, and they've now moved on to digitally animated fare like Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. That, or the novelty just faded out. I mean, how many perspectives can you bring to a princess-falls-for-prince-or-vice-versa-but-some-evil-uncle/witch/octopus-twice-removed-has-other-plans-for-them-but-happily-ever-after-triumphs-nonetheless storyline?

Up where they walk, up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wanderin' free, wish I could be
Part of that world...
